Celcuk/Ephesus April 9-12

We find a lovely pension with a rooftop cushion lounge, Beck does her usual great job negotiating a price. The next day is our first wedding anniversary. I was hoping that at 11.11, which was the time the ceremony started a year earlier, we would be in Ephesus, the most spectacular well preserved ancient site in Europe, so I could give Beck her present - a heart shaped turquoise which Turkey is famour for, the name of the stone being a derivitive of the country name. Well, didnt work out that way. At 11.11 we were still in our room, so I gave it to her there. She thought it was ¨cute¨. We left for Ephesus and spent the day exploring its amazing sites. Go to http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&q=ephesus to get an idea. Hardy, who said that very little in life lives up to its expectations obviously never visited Ephesus. That night we ahve a great celebration meal in the town square by candlelight, next to a large fountain. When we return to the pension, a group are takking turns playing guitar singing songs in the cushion lounge where we stay and lisaten for a while. A wonderful way to celebrate a challenging, difficult, amazing year together. We have a day exploring the town and spend the afternoon watching movies in the pension lounge. The next morning we head to the bus station and buy our tickets for Koycegiz, which we only decided the day before we would visit. It is a small town on a lake, like Egirdir was, and a good spot to explore the area by moped. They charge us 20 lira for the ticket and when we get to Koycegiz find out it should have been 16. I get the bus office to call the office in Celcuk and tell the guy this is not on, and that he needs to tell the guy in Koycegiz to refund the difference or I will come back and get it myself. He gives us the money.
